Backyard Cinema
Backyard Cinema is an immersive cinema experience, transporting audiences to new worlds to watch their favourite films and new releases. Since it was founded 8 years ago, we’ve sold over half a million tickets to our pop-ups and our venue in Capital Studios, Wandsworth. The company is currently entering an exciting period of growth, with shows planned at multiple locations around London in 2021.
This role will be based at Backyard Cinema’s Capital Studios Venue in Wandsworth, which is host to a diverse offering; two busy bars, a street food yard, two busy cinemas, cinema bars and box offices.
Overview
We are looking for talented bartenders to join us at Capital Studios, for fixed period of 4 weeks, ending on 31st July 2022.
This role will be based at Backyard Cinema’s Capital Studios Venue in Wandsworth, which is not only the home of immersive cinema with two large cinema screens changing themes seasonally, but also boasts large communal drinking areas, a live music stage, cocktail bar, street food and more.
As a member of the bar team your working rota will be centered around the public opening hours of the current venue, Capital Studios, which are approximately 60 hours per week. These hours will be covered by a team of staff; the rota for these hours will be drawn up based on collective availability and shared up to two weeks in advance. The bar staff are responsible for mixing and serving soft drinks, including hot drinks, alcoholic beverages and cocktails.
As part of the bar team you will also be required to verify the identification and age of our guests (we are a Challenge 25 venue), take cash and card payments through our til system and PDQ machines, supporting stock rotation, clearing the bar and tables and maintaining a clean and tidy working environment during and the end of your shift. You’ll be expected to deliver the highest level of service, speed, knowledge and efficiency are key.
Required Experience
● Minimum 1 years previous bar experience
● Working knowledge of bar equipment, serves and licensing
● Cocktail making skills experience preferred but not essential
● Ability to deliver and demonstrate high service standards at all times
● Excellent communication skills
● Experience in customer service and customer interaction in a food and beverage environment
● Great organisation skills
● Ability to work well under pressure
● The ability to assess risks to yourself, your colleagues and our audience, taking into account current Health and Safety Practices

Role Responsibilities:
● To prepare alcoholic and/or non-alcoholic beverages for guests, including cocktails
● To serve food, alcohol or non-alcoholic beverages for our guests, quickly and efficiency and in line with the Backyard Cinema service standards
● To set up and prepare your serving station, including stock, equipment and garnish ahead of each service window
● To provide a positive and memorable experience for our audience, taking orders and serving food, drinks and snacks in the way that feels personable, professional and relaxed
● To fully understand our food and beverage offerings, maintaining knowledge of the entire menu, including our seasonal specials and upselling these at the venue
● To maintain a clean and tidy working environment, both behind the bar, and out on the floor at our seating areas and tables
● To understand the needs & preferences our audience and make recommendations when possible
● To handle complaints, quickly and efficiently
● To support and lead on our licensing requirement, including our challenge 25 policy, ensuring we meets legal requirements of the business
● To follow and adhere to Backyard Cinema’s bar and venue procedures and policies, including any cleaning as required, in line with company standards, procedures & policies
● To monitor people under the influence of alcohol and insure the safe and legal sale of alcohol is adhered to at the premises at all times
● To work as part of the service team supporting all managers, supervisor and fellow team members
● To provide detailed feedback and suggestions to the management team to support detailed and thorough EOS reports
● To understand & exemplify the licensing requirements, and operational functions of the bar and it’s POS system
● To maintain & exemplify an understanding of all training materials, including fire safety, general health & safety, food hygiene and first aid, for the venue and it’s bars
● To ensure a high standard of health and safety for all areas specific to your role as highlighted in your training
